The Mass Spectrometry group at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) is located in Cha Chi-Ming Science Tower. Our group is currently equipped with two state-of-the-art mass spectrometers, both of which have capability with high resolution and tandem mass spectrometric analyses. A quadrupole-time of flight mass spectrometer (QTOF-MS) is equipped with electrospray ionization (ESI), atomic pressure chemical ionization (APCI) and nano-spray ionization and coupled with a liquid-chromatography (LC) system. The LC-MS instrument was funded by Hong Kong Research Grant Committee (Central Allocation-Equipment) and HKBU. The other high resolution mass spectrometer is funded by the Research Committee of HKBU. The triple-focusing magnetic sector instrument is coupled with capillary gas chromatography. Both mass spectrometers with various advanced techniques are available for collaborative research and service analysis. Our current research interest includes mass spectrometric method development and applications in areas of bio-, drug, Chinese medicinal and environmental (including dioxins) analysis.
